"The Fat Boy" Reminiscing the electronic music we grew up listening in the 90s , we named the swing after the nostalgia of “fatboy slim’s” music. This swing was designed to break away from the slender, wood and brass swings we’d done earlier. We wanted to create something that would not fit in the category of a “swing” as people have imagined swings to be.We wanted to create a large cocoon, a very cozy sofa, that sways. Visually we wanted it have a voluptuous form to create a very bold statement ; almost sculpture like.The large seat sits between slender metal posts, this contrast was implied to create a sense of tension in the unit.It was envisioned as an object that binds the space together as functional art.
