The pieces for this project were designed as standalone pieces and not to be of a singular design language.

This project was our first attempt at combining woodwork and metalwork together in the pieces. Working with our craftsmen, we also developed custom hardware and bearings for the double-sided swing and the lamp assembly for the divan.

With each project, we test our capabilities and like to dab in unfamiliar territories. The sofa was created from a simple sketch of what we wanted the side elevation to be and the double curve required was facilitated in Rhinoceros, a software we weren’t familiar with at the time. We employed a new technique where we used moulds to create our furniture and the final shape was realised through thin wooden sections bent on these moulds.

This project was a study on how we could introduce metal elements in our objects; how they serve the purpose of being efficient and malleable through design which also paved way for the more complex swings that followed.
