This project revolved exploring and expanding the work of Nigel Peake.

We did various exercises on studying and deconstructing the artist’s patterns from his drawings. These patterns were then redrawn to proportion, adhering to our design aesthetics and the functional parameters of the furniture pieces.

Overlaying these patterns on objects defined rhythm in terms of visuals as well as functional suggestions such as placement of handles, voids, drawers etc. in a medley of materials. These patterns were subsequently translated on objects in the forms of handles, voids, drawers in various materials.

The sofa’s and loungers were detailed out with different patterns to emulate the playfulness in Nigel Peake’s work. It was also an attempt to have the seating objects as a part of one family and yet not be visually disconnected altogether.
